Mark Bowden, author of the book Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War was born on July 17, 1951 in St. Louis Missouri to mother Rita Lois Bowden and father Richard H. Bowden. His other works include: Bringing the Heat: A Pro Football Team's Quest for Glory, Fame, Immortality, and a Bigger Piece of the Action, Killing Pablo, and Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War. On top of that Mark Bowden has written for magazines such as: Rolling Stone, Men’s Journal, and Sports Illustrated.
Obviously Mark Bowden is quite the accomplished writer; his proof of this is in his many awards. Mr. Bowden has won awards such as the Feature writing award from Sunday Magazine Editors Association, the Overseas Press Club's Hal Boyle Award, and the Science writing award from American Association for Advancement of Science. He has also been a finalist for the National Book Award ant the best newspaper writing award.
On top of being a great writer and having all those awards for his writing, Mark Bowden has also earned a few film credits. He has been involved in making the major motion picture Black Hawk Down and the movie Money for Nothing, Killing Pablo the movie is also under production right now.
Before writing the book Black Hawk Down, Mark Bowden decided that as and author he needed to find something interesting too write about. Bowden, being the intelligent man that he is, quickly realized that 99 soldiers fighting for their lives in Somalia would make for a great fiction novel.
As you can see, Mark Bowden is a very accomplished writer who has many great novels and articles under his belt. His main claim to fame is New York Times bestseller Black Hawk Down which is praised by critics and one of the best stories of modern war ever written.
