In the book Black Hawk Down a war is going on in Mogadishu.  The main theme so far is every one is very confident.  Maybe to confident I think.  All of the soldiers are confident that they will get the mission done in less then a half and hour.  They want to get in and out as fast as they can.  It started out they get the order to get ready to fight.  When they start to pack the bags all of them were packing all the normal equipment that they usually would take.  A lot of the rangers were we don’t need half of this dead weight we will be back in a half hour. So they left behind the most vital gear they could of needed.  It ended up it was a couple day things they didn’t know it was going to turn out like that.  When they got into the fight they still were confident but it was getting tougher then they would have anticipated.  They thought they were winning it so far but ideally they were losing.  They just didn’t know it.  For all the directions to get to them it was relayed to so many people that they weren’t getting them fast enough so they were losing time there and people and ammo.  The precious stuff they needed.  They thought they were going to be able to get Mohamed Adid but they weren’t able to.  They were starting not to be so sure of them selves.

Now it has all changed.  People are starting to die.  The Black hawk helicopters are starting to get shot down with R.P.G.  Every one was sure of what they had to do.  Now it is a fight to stay alive and succeed with the mission.  Some of the troops are dying.  Tons of them are wounded.  Durant was captured but given back to us a like a piece treaty.  Some of the other troops are captured and killed.  All the Somalis said that they would give back Durant if we leaved their country.  We did cause we are the U.S. and we leave no man behind.  As you can see that the theme has changed many times throughout the book.  It went to confident to confident actually to scared and a fight for their lives.
