Author Information Mark Robert Bowden was born on July 17, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the Sun of Richard H. and Rita Louis (Keane) Bowden. He grew up in Glen Ellyn, Ill., Port Washington, N.Y., and Timanium, M..D. He graduated from Loyalal College of Maryland in 1973 with a B.A. in English Literature. Mark Bowden lives in southeastern Pennsylvania. He is married to Gail Louise McLaughlin. They have five children together. His kids names are Aaron, Anya, William, Daniel, and Benjamin. He live with his wife, his five children and there two dogs and there two horses. Mark Bowden is an author, journalist, screenwriter, and a teacher. He contributes to the Atlantic Monthly and The New Yorker by writing a weekly column. The Philadelphia Inquirer was a place where he was a staff writer for 22 years. He is a professor at Loyola College in Maryland, where he teaches creative writing and journalism. Mark Bowden has written for Men’s Journal, Sports Illustrated, and Rolling Stones. He is a winner of numerous awards, and has received major international recognition after his book Black Hawk Down: A story of Modern War, which turned in to a film by Ridley Scott in 2001. Mark Bowden has written six famous books. In 1987 he wrote Doctor Dealer. In 1994 he wrote Bringing the Heat. In 1999 he wrote his best selling book Black Hawk Down. In 20001 he wrote Killing Pablo. In 2002 he wrote two books Our Finest Day and Finder’s Keeper. Mark Bowden won a lot of awards for his work. For “Black Hawk Down” he was the finalist for the National Book Award in 1999. For “Finder’s Keeper” he won the feature writing award from Sunday Magazine Editors Association in 1987. For “Life’s in a Project” he won the finalist best newspaper writing for American Society Newspaper Editors in 1979. In 1980 he won the Science writing Award from American Association for Advancement of Science.
