The Region
There will be a map coming soon, but here is a rough description of the world of the Dragon saint.
Senoth is estimated at a hundred and fifty miles in diameter, and roughly circular in appearance. It is bordered by the four kingdoms of Fatrie (east), Laberdowick (southeast), Scalls (south), and Harmoness (southwest). On the west border of Senoth is the sea, and on the north a range of rolling hills known as the Hills of Willow.
Past the Hills and nearly a hundred miles further north is the kingdom of Gand, and a small inland sea. Across this sea is the kingdom of Gosk.
To the south, past the kingdom of Harmoness, there are several hundreds of acres of woods, dotted with independent and lorded settlements. Past this is a small range of mountains guarded by dragons, then a wide desert. The kingdom of Chakani is in this desert. This desert is bordered on the west by the same sea that borders Senoth. The sea *as yet unnamed* has many harbors and small islands.
Senoth ~
Senoth is the home of the Dragon Saint, Queen Bethany Duncan. The Duncans have been the ruling family of Senoth for twelve generations, after King Humberto Duncan married the reigning king's eldest daughter.
Senoth consists of one large city and several surrounding farms, orchards, and small villages. The castle is on the northern border of the city. It has a substantial fishing fleet and recieves merchanters at the sea harbor from all over the world.
The citizenry of Senoth are members of a church which for all intents and purposes is nearly identical to the Catholic church. There is a large cathedral the main city, several smaller churches in the smaller villages, and one in the castle itself.
Fatrie ~
Fatrie is a small kingdom, only thirty miles. Like Senoth it is mainly a farming community, and as it doesn't border at all on the sea farming is it's only livlihood. It has no main city, only dozens of scattered smaller settlements. The castle sits in the rough center of the kingdom.
The Royal family consists only of King Far, who is in his early twenties. He has no offspring and has yet to marry. Fatrie under Far is allied with Senoth, since Far's father was killed in the War of Five Kingdoms.
Laberdowick ~
Laberdowick is also a small kingdom, about fifteen miles. The ground is too rough for growing crops so they mainly focus on the pig and cattle trade. It is ruled by King Addian and his two sons, Luka and Zavien. The castle sits near the southern border of the kingdom.
Scalls ~
Scalls is the same size as Harmoness, roughly twenty to thirty miles. They trade through the forest and rely on trade for most of their gain. The ruling family consists of King Zillah, Queen Kaeli, and their daughter Princess Paulette. The Scalls are on very poor standing with Senoth, and it doesn't look to change.
Harmoness ~
Harmoness borders on the sea, as Senoth does, and has a good sea trade. It, too, trades through the forest and so has a rather solid economy base. It is on very poor standing with Senoth, as Bethany has had some uncomfortable encounters with King Atrien. The Queen, Andrea, however, Bethany considers one of her closest friends. Andrea hates Atrien, and they have no offspring.
Gand ~
Gand is a cold, northern country, and is ruled by the Winterhall's. It's citizenry usually wear heavy, fur garments to stave off the chill, and nearly every mature man has a thick beard. It is ruled by King Adrien Winterhall and his wife, Talia. Vincent is the younger of their two sons; his elder, Durn, is the heir to the throne.
They are solid allies of Senoth, and aided them in the War of the Five Kingdoms.
Gosk ~
Little is known about Gosk. The Goskans recently crossed the sea and attacked Gand, prompting the alliance between Gand and Senoth. Several Goskans slipped through and now act as raiders along the route between Gand and Senoth, making travel along the main road treacherous.
Chakani ~
Chakani is a kingdom in the far southern desert (as yet unnamed). The inhabitants believe in God, and they see the white monkey as sacred. Their culture is rather like that of Saudi Arabia or India. They are a very rich kingdom, specilizing in spice trade. Prince Lauden of the ruling family is on good terms with Bethany and Senoth.
Dugan is known to own an island off the coast between Senoth and the desert. Where exactly this island is is unknown. Desen and Tranci, and probably other elves, are known to inhabit the large forest between Harmoness and the mountains.
