Silver Scroll finalists announced
31st October 2000
APRA's annual award for the 'best song' written (or at least, released)
over the last year has been narrowed
down to eight worthy contenders, and indie pop-rock is well represented:
Garageland's "Trashcans", Chris
Knox's "My Only Friend", Liam Betchadupa Finn's "Emptyhead", and Fur
Patrol's "Holy" all in the running.
Our pick, though, is the King Kapisi & Mark de Clive-Lowe number 'Method
Of My Madness'. Rounding out
the numbers are old-timers Greg Johnson ("Hold Tight"), Barry Saunders
("Rescue Me"), and Eye TV (old
before their time) ("One Day Ahead"). The winner is announced at a
function at the Bruce Mason Theatre on
Auckland's North Shore on Monday 13 November. (31 Oct)
