What is the one key idea of this chapter. pay attention to the title of the chapter!
The key idea for this chapter is “Called to love.” For me there are has always been to kinds of love, there is the mushy, cliché, lustful love that is portrayed in movies and on TV. Then there is the real love that is around us. For example organizations like the Red Cross, the United Way, and UNHCR all show examples of spreading love even to complete strangers. The gospel of John shows Gods love in thought which states that at the heart of Christian service is love. When we serve others we show Jesus’ love and spread his word to others. The Gospel of John also calls us to love by explaining Jesus’ central moral principle which is that we should LOVE one another as has we LOVED us.
Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
A major idea I would like to take from this chapter would be choosing light or darkness. We as people are influenced to choose living a life or dark or a life of light. It is up to decide which way we want to go. The dark is easier and is sometimes what are culture says is good, but its downside is sin and unrest. The light is harder because it is what God calls of us, but it leads to happieness spiritually and makes us closer to God. I would like to turn to the light but sometimes I find myself in the dark.
Another major idea I would like to take from this chapter would be that images can be used as symbols. Sometimes words can express Jesus’ divinity and mystery so we have to use images to express them. Over time people have used poems paintings and symbols to express Jesus’ divinity
One image that captures the chapter for you.
One significant question you have from this chapter. It can be intellectual or personal.
One question I have from this chapter is if the followers of Jesus’ understood the “I am” statements the way we to now in today’s world. And if they interrupted them differently how did they first reacted to the statments
