The key idea of this chapter is the “Called to Take Risks.” At times in our jounery of life, we have to take risks and put either our bodies, money or maybe our reputations on the line in order to serve others. The Gospel of Luke gives us the first look in to the parable of the Good Samaritan. In the story a Jewish man is atracked while travling and is saved by a Samaritan who was passing by. Jesus is almost “calling us out” as Christians and asking if we would do that if we were in his the same situation of the Sameritan. If we are followers of Jesus we should stop and help him or her. A modern example would be when we seeing someone on the side of the road with a broken down car. We can take a risk by stopping and offering to help them. The risk involved is the same as it was for the Samaritan.
Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.
One idea that I would like to remember from this chapter is that there is risk involved in commitment with God. Like all commitments there is risk involved. The risk of failure is the most common fear that is involeved with commitment. But if we trust in good we can the aspect of risk is lowered just as it was for Mary the mother of God
Another idea that we should take from this chapter is that prayer is a source of courage for the risk. When we pray we are talking to god and that is the best way it gain courage for the fear of risking. By pray we also become close to God because we are putting are faith right into his hands
