What is the one key idea of this chapter. pay attention to the title of the chapter!

The key idea of this chapter is “Called to be like Jesus.” God calls us as followers of Christ to be like and be and example of Jesus our Savior. By showing his example we make a simple model for what we should be. If we put out that model and example people we see that and follow it just as we followed him. It is what are faith calls us to do and how to live are lives. Jesus is who we base our faith on and by living like him we spread are faith to everyone we come in contact with.

Write about two major ideas you want to remember. Write a short paragraph on each clearly stating the idea and then telling why you want to remember it.

A major idea from the chapter is the values of Jesus. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus preaches to a large crowd on a large mound, this is known as the Sermon on the Mound. He told the crowd of what we now base are faith on. He gave the Beatitudes, the Our Father, and many views on different topics of the time.

Another idea is the idea of turning away from temptation. Jesus set the ultimate example of turning away from the Devil and his sins. Jesus could have given up everything for us, but he didn’t for us because he loves us. By reading this passage we can relate ourselves to Jesus and the temptation we face in the constant temptation we are faced with in are society

One image that captures the chapter for you.

One significant question you have from this chapter. It can be intellectual or personal.

One significant question I have is if Jesus ever considered giving into temptation. Maybe the human side of him thought of giving in to the devil. I have often tried to see the human side of Jesus in the scripture. For example I have read the story of Jesus in the garden. Nominate an organization that best spreads God’s love To me the Red Cross is and organization that spreads Gods love in areas where it is needed the most. They are the people that run into what everyone is running away from them. Its people like them that hold places of emergence together. For example, last fall in New Orleans Hurricane Katrina devastated the city and one of the few organizations that desperately tried to help. To me this is a great example of spreading God’s love even though it is not a catholic organization it still give the message that there are caring people out there. 1
