Susan Moore's Story

My name is Susan Moore. I am 54 years old and was diagnosed with copd (emphysema and asthma) almost eight years ago. I have two children, Blake and Tracy. I also have three grandchildren, Lauren 14, Savanah almost three in December, and grandson Dyla, age 6 months. My mom and Lauren live with me and are great company and help to me.

I live in Tennesse and have all my life. I have lived in Memphis, where I was a hairdresser for a few years. I also lived in Nashville with my mom, dad and younger for a few years when I was a child. We eventually moved back to West Tennessee where I was born.

I have done some traveling, New York, Maryland, Flordia, New Orleans, La. and surrounding southern states.

After I was diagnosed I was very uncertain of myself and circumstances for two or three years. I then decided I was not ready to give up and wait to die. I had had a very unhappy marriage at one time that left many scars, so I decided I would do what I had wanted to do for many years and help others that had been in my situation.

I first was a member of the "Flock of Angels Foundation" doing research on domestic violence for this organization, a sister foundation to the Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation. I was then approached and appointed Director of the Eastern Regional Chapter of The PeaceClinic. Our organization promotes world, domestic and inner peace. In addition to my Directorship I have recently have been appointed, Vice President of Public Relations for The PeaceClinic. I also work with the WRAP organization in my local area, another women's resource group. I am very happy with this work and hope to make a difference in many womens lives.

This leaves me little time to ponder my fate.
