May 8, 1884 Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri.
1894 Truman contracted diphtheria and was laid up for six months.
May 30, 1901 Graduates from Independence High School
1901 Takes a job as a timekeeper with the railroad construction outfit of L.J. Smith for thirty-five dollars a month plus board
June 14, 1905 Joins National Guard battery in Kansas City
October 1905 Quits his job to help his father work the family farm
1909 Truman joins the Masons in the Belton Lodge
1914 Upon his fathers death Truman becomes road overseer
August 5, 1917 Truman's National Guard unit is called into service for World War I as the 129th Field Artillery of the 60th Brigade attached to the 35th Division
April 13, 1918 Truman and his unit arrive in Brest, France on board the George Washington
April 23, 1918 Truman is promoted to Captain
August 29, 1918 Truman sees his first action of the war when his unit fires 500 rounds of poison gas at the Germans
November 11, 1918 Truman sees his last action of the war on the last day of the war as he ordered his units last shell fired at 10:45 A.M.
June 28, 1919 Truman marries Bess Wallace on the same day that the Treaty of Versailles is signed to end World War I
November 1919 Truman and Eddie Jacobson open thier store, Truman & Jacobson in Kansas City
1922 Truman & Jacobson go bankrupt
January 1, 1923 Truman is sworn in as Eastern Judge of Jackson County, Missouri

Truman serves as Presiding Judge of Jackson County, Missouri
November 1934 Truman is elected as a U.S. Senator from Missouri
1941 Truman is appointed head of the Senate Special Committee to Investigate the National Defense Program. a.k.a. The Truman Committee
1944 Truman elected Vice-President of the United States
April 12, 1945 Truman is sworn in as President of the United States on the death of FDR
February 1953 Truman is offered $600,000 by Life magazine for rights to his memoirs
April 21, 1956 Margaret Truman gets married
June 20, 1956 Truman receives honorary degree from Oxford
July 6, 1957 Formal dedication of the Truman Library
December 26, 1972 Truman dies at 7:50 A.M. in Kansas City's Research Hospital
