Alberta

August 31st - Day 7 - Mosquito Creek Campground to Hinton Alberta - Folding Mountain Campground

Happiness is a hot shower! - which I missed at the public sites in the National Parks. I pulled into a private campsite with electricity about 4pm today.

Started to feel homesick when I crossed the border into Alberta! And it's Sunday morning - my thoughts are with the Gathering today. I'm also starting to feel scared about meeting new people in Edmonton. So it's time to renew my intentions and allow new experiences to meet me.

The impulse to rush, to drive quickly through everything, is strong. I have to keep reminding myself to focus, to relax, to let the time be.

Athabasca River (I think!)

The water is like green ice...Jessie only went as far as her paws and then jumped out pretty quick. I'm on the Icefields Parkway which goes through Banff and Jasper National Parks.

I pass a busload of Japanese tourists who take millions of pictures of the Rockies with great enthusiasm! Sometimes it takes the awe of the unexpected and spectacular to help us appreciate the wonders in our own back yard.

Met some more cyclists at a lookout, where we took mutual pictures. The light was tricky with the mountains. One couple I met cycling were in their 70's....inspiration for my future!

The perspective changes with each turn of the road, each one spectacular in it's own way. As I keep driving the mountains change from grey, to a sort of ochre, to tree covered slopes. Then there are meadows, and rivers and lakes. The wealth of the earth is awesome.
