August 27th - Day 3 - Ft.Langley to Osoyoos

I brought music tapes with me, but treasure the atmosphere of silence so have only listened to the CBC news once in a while to get updates on the fires. Reading Nolan's chapters about the Kindom of God leads me to pray. So the kms pass, enjoying the mountains and blessing all the other drivers I meet on the road. My "mantra" became: "Gracious and Compassionate One, may your Spirit find a home in us, your kindom take root in our hearts."

the blessings of rain around Princeton

The terrain changes as I cross the Cascade Mountains and move into the Okanagan. At one of the rest stops, a couple asked me to phone back to Princeton for them as their car had broken down. I stopped at the first place with a phone, a fruit stand. The owner was so gracious and went "beyond the call of duty" in helping me make the phone call. I also got a chance to buy some peaches!

Osoyoos is sunny, windy, and warm. I have a spot at a beautiful campsite by the Lake. (Waldon's Mountain) One of the campers told me that today was a welcome break from the smoke from the forest fires. He and his wife reminded me to look for Mars tonight.....which I will try to do....on my midnight bathroom trip!

Jessie and I walked along the Lake, but I forgot my camera. Hopefully tomorrow will provide good light and shading for pictures as the sun rises. For now, I'm quite ready for bed. The Ft. Langley campsite was next to a very active railroad!
