I made a quick dash out to Bokavici School to check the printer and modem connections for their computers. Don’t know if I mentioned it before but the last SFOR rotation purchased 3 computers for the school. One of our goals in to buy them a printer and Internet service. Beside Jagi, our interpreter, along for the visit were PFC Marshall and SPC Hill (both first time school visitors). Marshall and Hill are obviously much younger than I am, so the children warmed up to them quickly. I had my usual supply of sweets, which I handed over to them. They stayed outside while Jagi and I inspected the computers.

Fifteen minutes later, while the teachers were preparing coffee for us, Marshall comes in the room all excited. He is telling me a story and showing me pictures on his digital camera.

The first picture is of children approaching to talk with him and Hill.
The second, he explains is when they opened the bag of candy.
In this picture are dozens of wildly waving hands.
The next photo is of children’s faces looking at him with concern.
The photo looked rather odd until he told me that he was on the ground when the camera went off.
The children, in their excitement over the candy had, in his words, "mugged him."
He was beaming with excitement.

Moments afterwards another teacher burst into the room to exclaim that she thought one of our soldiers had got trampled by the students. We screamed with laughter.

PFC Marshall with the students. Students find out
about the candy.
The start of the "mugging".
