Terry Beck

Hi Jack and CPCI/Brunskill alumni

This is Terry Beck's story in a nutshell since 1961

I attended U.of S. intermittently from 1961 to 1969 while working at the
Saskatchewan Research Council as a climatology technician, then left
Saskatoon to join the Federal Department of Environment in Ottawa. I was
with them until 1979 and worked as a field technologist doing glacier
research studies in western Canada and the Yukon. I also worked as an
avalanche research technician for part of those years at Sunshine Village,
Roger's Pass and Whistler B.C. where we had field stations. I assisted a
research project in the St Elias Mts., Yukon on Mount Logan in 1974 and
again in 1987, spending time at a high elevation living in a nylon
mountain tent at 17,000 feet at -30 degrees Celcius for up to 40 days
(1987 trip). That was a fabulous experience!

From 1979 to 1984, I was with the Alberta Forest Service in Calgary,
working as a Outdoor Recreation Planner during the development of
Kananaskis Country recreation region west of Calgary. We were involved in
camground and recreational trail planning and development. From 1984 to
the present I have been involved in legal land survey work in Calgary and
throughout Alberta. Much of our work pertains to oilfield/gasfield well
and pipeline development.

I was married from 1976 to 1999, when my ex-wife and I decided very
amicably that we should desolve our marriage and move on along our own
pathways. I have one son, Galen, who is an electrical engineer and
computer specialist designing both hardware and web design/management in
Santa Clara, California (Silicon Valley). Galen attended the University of
Waterloo, Ontario. He lives in San Francisco.

My interests involve active outdoor recreation, skiing hiking and glacier
travel. I still help out with glacier research on a contract basis for a
week or so each summer. My other interest is antique/vintage cars,
primarily English and European sports cars.

I am about 6'2" tall and weigh in at approximately 180 lbs. with greying
and thinning hair.

I'm looking forward to our re-union in early July.

Keep well and best regards
