Partial Eclipse in 2000. It is a composite using Photoshop of the sun at max eclipse and another image of the full moon that I took a few years ago. It shows what the eclipse would look like if the sun were not so bright that it wipes out the unlit side of the moon. |

This is the best shot of the lunar eclipse that I have so far. I took this one with the G2 on the 4 inch refractor at about 27 power. It is a 5 second exposure and was taken 10 minutes from the exact midpoint of the eclipse. This was such a short total phase that I missed the exact mid point before I realized it. In any case I am pretty happy with the way this one turned out. Not all the shots are as sharp as this -there are many features visible on the moon and in the original Photoshop file, I can really blow this one up before the "grain" starts to show. |
