This was a trip we took up to Quetico Provincal Park
in Ontario, Canada during the late summer of '96. My best friends,
Shaun & Jeff, as well as Shaun's longtime childhood friend,
Barry, Shaun's brother, Michael, and Shaun's sister's boyfriend,
Robert all were on this amazingly long trip. For Robert and I,
this was our first time in Quetico; the others had visited 2 years
prior. The majority of the trip consisted of canoeing, as this
was the only way to get around in the park. We spent the first
2 days canoeing to get to our basecamp where we spent 4 days of
solitude fishing and relaxing. Overall, it was a pleasant excursion
into the wilderness and a new experience for me since all my previous
backpacking adventures were on foot. This was my first time canoeing
and portaging, and the first few days took a toll on my arms.
Once I was used to it, everything fell into place. Nothing could
be more relaxing than kicking back in a canoe fishing with good
friends.
