Obadiah







Very little is known of Obadiah. All historians know is that he was prophet who lived around the time of the Babylonian Exile and lived in Jerusalem. His book in the Bible is only 21 verses long and is just about one prophecy. However this prophecy may be linked to a neraly exact same prophecy told by Jeremiah. This prophecy states that the people of Edom were to be destroyed by God. Edom was going to be destroyed becasue they were kicked out of their native land and then came up and settled in the land of Israel which made the Hebrews very unhappy. This prophecy is important because it refers to the restoration of Israel and removing unwanted settlers in their lands
