Idea of a hero from Orsen Scott Card's Ender's Game
	In Ender's Game, we are presented several views of what a hero is. The first view is that of Ender, the main character. Ender starts the story as a young boy, but he is a genius. All he seeks is to not dissapoint or harm others. Throughout the story, he is forced into situations in which he must hurt others. He holds onto the core of himself, but he changes so he can help lead the human forces to defeat the alien forces which have twice strove to destroy humanity. This is the hero who sacrifices who he or she is, him or herself, or his or her future that everyone else can have a future. This is the kind of hero I think that Jesus and many of the saints were.         The next image of a hero is Ender's brother Peter. Peter is a sadist and invokes fear in others to gain what he seeks, power. But in the end, Peter becomes the leader of Earth, but without competition or more power to gain, Peter creates a lasting peace and greatly heals the divisions and suffering on the planet. Peter is the example of the unwilling or unknowing hero. He helped others without intending to. These heroes are rare, but their contributions are still beneficial.         The third is given to us in the character of Ender's sister, Valentine. She supports and helps others without giving up who she is. She hates herself sometimes for allowing her help to be used for a purpose besides helping others. She helps the military in convincing Ender to train harder. Although she knows she is hurting Ender, she knows she was helping the world. Again she hates helping Peter into power, but without him, the planet would be doomed to more war. She is the example of both the hero who refuses to give up on beliefs and self and the hero that promotes and  aids other people.          The last example of a hero is that of one of Ender's young commanders, Bean. Bean is a genius inside a tiny body. Despite his lack of size, Bean can accomplish great things. He is one of the few friends that the military allows Ender to have. He is the last kind of hero, the beacon of hope.
