The link to the J6 Karatoo site has been down for awhile.

Karl Counts was nice enough to pass this information on

I saw this on your site: "The two seat J6 Karatoo version is sold by Carl McIntosh of N. Carolina." I tried the Karatoo link as well, but it is dead. I searched the net and found reference to Norman Aviation in Canada as the owner of this design. It, the Karatoo, wasn't on their website. I wrote and asked them about that. Here is there response. I thought you might want to know. BTW, I really like your site. It is very informative. I wish more aviation sites would have so much info.

Dear Sir,

You are right. We are the owner of the Karatoo design. Here is the story. In the 80's, and American (I forget his name) designed and built the J-6 Karatoo. He brought it to Oshkosh and came back with so many orders, he couldn't honor them. He also sold plans for those who wanted to build from scratch. Jacques Norman of Norman Aviation International Inc. bought the design and started to produce it in Canada. Following that Jacques designed and produced the Nordic II and later the Nordic VI, both offshoots of the Karatoo. Same type of construction but with many improvements. Eventually, the Karatoo was dropped in favor of the Nordic VI mainly because the VI had much better performance overall than the Karatoo. All jigs were discarded. Note that plans for the Karatoo are still sold by some people in the U.S. . We elected not to sue any of those because this would only add up to feed our and their lawyers.

Best regards
Clarence LeBlanc
