1. This photo was taken from the roof of the house and is looking northeast. Several government buildings and a portion of the public square can be seen. At least two open windows in the carriage house can also be seen. Directly below the chimneys were the twenty three stairs that led to the cellar area. In 1918, Ekaterinburg was primarily a mining and smelting town. At one time, most of the world's supply of platinum came from this area.
