Author's note: "Hero" never happened, so Doyle is alive
Snow fell as she looked out her icey cold window. It was the first time snow had fallen in ten years in Sunnydale, California. Boca Del Inferno, the Spaniards had called it when they setteled. The Hellmouth in English. Buffy Summers, the Chosen One, the Slayer, in all of her generation chosen to fight against the evil, was crying as she stared out her window. "It is snowing" she thought. "The last time it snowed, Angel was here. Oh my dear Angel, why did you leave me? I needed you. I still need and love you. Oh Angel my Angel, please come home to me."
"Buffy?" cried a loud male voice from the kitchen. "Buffy? are you okay? You're so quiet."
"Angel? Can it be?" she thought.
Just then. Riley stepped out into view, and Buffy's face expression hardened. "I brought you some soup. Chicken soup. Your favorite," Riley had said. He placed the steaming bowl of soup on the table, inside their small, cold apartment. "Now come here, and eat your soup."
Buffy started to get up. Though her body much protested moving, she slowly forced herself to walk over to the table. A wave of dizziness and hurt washed over her as she took each step. A foot away from teh table, Buffy collapsed, falling into a state of darkness.
Angel bolted up in his bed. Beads of sweat falling like rain drops from his body and chest. A rush of dread entered his mind, as he uttered the words that hadn't escaped his mouth in years, "Buffy!"
After being rushed to the hospital, Buffy lay dieing in a bed, "Oh Angel my Angel, I love you. I wish you were here. Why did you leave me ten years ago to die? Oh Angel my Angel. Give me one last chance to see, to kiss you. That way, I'll die happy," she thought, struggling to stay conscious, knowing Angel will come.
"What do you mean you are going to Sunnydale now? Doyle and I can't hold down the fort while you are gone!" screamed Cordelia, as she rubbed her ever swollen stomach.
"Cordelia, you'll be fine. I promise. Buffy is in trouble. I can feel it. She needs my help. I am going." Angel said, as he hopped into his car, and screeched out of teh garage. It took him nearly 2 hours to reach Sunnydale. That was when he decided to call Giles.
"I'm sorry Angel. She's in the hospital. She's dying."
"Alright. I'll meet you there."
-click- went the phone. Giles rushed out of his apartment, trying to beat angel to the hospital.
"Mom," Buffy said weakly, "is Angel here yet?"
"N-"
"Yes. I'm right here. Oh Buffy. Please don't leave me! I need you. I am sorry i left you. It was a stupid thing to do. I wanted to come back to you, but i wanted you to have a normal life!"
"Shhh!" She said, as she placed her finger upon his cold, dead lips. "Just kiss me you fool!" she thought.
-Cough! Cough!- Buffy went, as she coughed up a little blood.
"Everyone! Get in here. Buffy is starting to go!" Angel cried, as tears of pain, sorrow, and regret streamed down his face.
When Riley walked in, he was about to move Angel out of his way, but Buffy spoke. "Riley don't. If you love me, if you truely love me, you'll let me die happy. I want to die being kissed by my lover." "Angel. Quick. Kiss me!" she thought.
Riley was about to step up, when Angel leaned over Buffy's bed, grabbed her hand, and placed his cool, soft lips upon her dying ones. As Angel kissed Buffy, he felt her life slip away. Her hand dropped to the bed. He slowly pulled away, kissed her forhead, and walked out of the room, missing his love. Missing his last chance to be with his soulmate. "Oh Buffy my Buffy, I love you" he thought.
It was a sunny fay when everyone came to mourn the death of the Slayer. She was such a big part of their life. But not everyone was there. Where was Angel while everyone hugged and cried? He lurked in the shadows, waiting and watching for the others to leave.
When they left, and it was sundown, Angel walked up to Buffy Summer's, his love's, grave. It read, " Buffy Anne Summers 1982-2010 Beloved daughter, savoir, lover, friend 'You will always be in our hearts'"
Angel placed a single white rose upon her grave, with a hint of vanilla. As he was about to rise, he whispered by the grave stone, "Oh Buffy my Buffy, I love you."
At this, Angel turned around, got into his car, and left. Never to return to Sunnydale again.
