Disclaimer: Not mine never were never will be.
Author's note: This is the third in my series, B2B. The reason this series is called Back2Back is because each story takes up where the last left off. Dedicated to Felicity cause her site and fan fic rocks!!!!!
“ So Angel, where exactly have you been?” Giles asked
“ LA, Rome, Vatican City, Ireland, Singapore, Sydney, London, Summer Bay, Paris, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand, Bali and New York City.” Angel listed. “I stayed in Paris for four years and 11 months. Then I headed home to Galway, Ireland early last year.”
“Thank goodness we have our immortality- I’ve just scored myself another contract with Home and Away - for fifteen more years,” Anya smiled.
Buffy nodded dully. She wasn’t feeling too good. Nobody knew that Spike helped out with the slaying now. He would probably swing by and see if she was patrolling. Drusilla had returned to him three months before. And poor Amy Madison was coming down. Her main concern was the reaction when Spike walked in.
The library doors swung open. Spike stood there, waiting like a dog waiting for its owner.
“Angel, long time no see, “ Spike smirked.
“Get out,” Angel growled.
“ Why? I’m welcome. Aren’t I Buffy?” Spike teased Angel by running his eyes up and down Buffy’s body. Buffy sighed, exasperated.
“Spike, grow up,” she snapped, ignoring the glares she was receiving. Spike looked disappointed, but stopped.
“Care to explain?” Xander sounded mad.
“Spike helps patrol. I mean after mum died, I was useless. So being a failure at Evil Vampire 101, Spike tried Good Vampire 101,” Buffy said.
Everyone’s face softened. Buffy had never quite recovered from finding her mother’s body.
The group sat down to have a talk. Catch up on the gossip.
After a few moments of idol gossip, Oz asked after Willow’s ex fiance.
“ So Will, when’s the wedding?” he asked casually.
“ Um, Jack and I aren’t getting married,” she said quietly. A loud shout came from the group.
“ I caught him in a club, kissing the waitress, who had to be at least 19,” Willow said dully. “I confronted him about it when he came home. I now know he has five other wives, and 11 children, one about to get married. So I gave him the flick.”
Willow seem unfazed. The immortality spell that she had cast over the group had kept the group looking like they had in High school. (And Angel can have children, which means he can have a happy. Sunlight, Willow’s still working out.)
“What’s your biggest regret of your life so far?” Anya asked suddenly.
“ Not finishing college,” Xander said.
“ Ditto,” Cordelia agreed.
“ Leaving Sunnydale,” Willow murmured.
“ Leaving Willow behind,” Oz chuckled. Willow blushed deeply.
“ Not telling you I was Janna,” Jenny answered quickly.
“ Holding my grudge against Angel too long,” Giles said guiltily.
“ Going back to Europe . Those Watchers are real..@$$*” Angel swore.
Buffy looked on silently. So many regrets. Not being there when her mother died. Still being in Sunnydale at 24 and being a writer of all things. Living flicked into her mind. No, she was glad she was here, with her happy friends... Willow was just as bad- finding out your fiancee is cheating on you and is married to five other women is not what dreams are made of.
“Buffy,” Giles prodded.
“I honestly don’t know what’s worse- letting mum die or still being the active Slayer,” she said quietly. As Willow caught onto her meaning, Buffy got up and left.
Angel watched her leave. After all those years apart, he didn’t know how to comfort her.
Buffy headed back to her small apartment. Her black and white cat, Josephine, was curled up on Buffy’s quilt.
She had been half hoping Angel would have followed her back.
“Better go hunt,” Buffy murmured. She picked up her crossbow and headed towards the cemetary.
The End.
Okay the series gets better next story cause I got a beta reader.
