I too, am truly sorry to hear that another young man has been accosted, and=
especially for the Stupid Reason, stated here.
However, I'd seriously like to know, what single factor is it in everyone's=
mind, that makes this or any othersingle crime against a "Human", a "Hate=
Crime"?
Let me say, before everyone starts to rail at me here! That, "Any and all =
crime against another Human Being, is a 'Hate Crime'." There is no distinc=
tion for age, gender, religion, Race, color of skin, ethnicity, sexual pref=
erence or orientation, or any other distinctions you may choose to contrive=
.
I believe, or at least the last time I looked, The Declaration of Independe=
nce, said in part, in it's second paragraph:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, t=
hat they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that=
among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness ..."
What do those words mean, to any of you??? Because, to me, it says: You ar=
e no better than I am, nor am I any better than you are. We are each entit=
led by our maker (whomever, or whatever, either of us may believe that may =
be), to all the same choices and chances at doing what we want to do, with =
each of our "Individual" lives. And, that you may not take any of my choic=
es or chances, nor may I take away any of your choices or chances. PERIOD!=
!!
There is, "NO IF", there is "NO AND", there is "NO BUT", about it! I don't=
care if you're a 65-year old, Black, Baptist, lesbian, female, or an 18-ye=
ar old, White, Mormon, polygamist, male! We are both "Human," therefore we=
each have the same choices, and the same chances, to start with. What we =
do with them after that, is up to us as "Individuals", an no one else. Eac=
h of these lives is just as sacred as the other. No more, nor, no less!
How many types of "Hate Crimes" should we have? Should we have one for bei=
ng Gay, another for being Black or Latino, another for Catholics or Baptist=
s, and yet another for being a female? The very idea that you're proposing=
is "Ludicrous," in my mind!
If you do harm to another "Individual". You deserve to be prosecuted to th=
e fullest extent of the law. Because it was a "Human". But, not just beca=
use that person or "Human" was different than you, in some way! Hitler, an=
d Stalin, to name just two which everyone should know about, both tried the=
se methods. Do you really care to be known as, or associated with, those t=
ypes of people?
If I do you harm. What gives you a Right to prosecute me, differently, tha=
n if you had done me harm? Do you really believe you're better than I am? =
If so, what determines your being better? Your Bank Account? Your Clothe=
s? Your House? Your Car? Your Job? What???
What you are asking for, in the end, is an; "Endangered Species Law, for Hu=
man Beings, of some particular type"!!! The type, or types, to be determin=
ed or distinguished by whom? You? Me? Some D, or R, bureaucrat sitting i=
n Washington, D.C.? (I'm a Libertarian, does that automatically exclude me=
too, then?)
Like the saying goes: "Be careful what you ask for, you may get it!"
