Hi, guys --

It's hard to believe it's been only seven weeks since I announced the confluence of circumstances that led me to launch my new, monthly privacy newsletter.

In order to achieve privacy (financial and otherwise), we should make privacy a habit in our lives. We preach that -- and practice it. On the other hand, a somewhat higher profile is the price some of us agreed to pay when we came to understand it was our mission to show others that effective and perfectly legal means remain in place to "keep your gold, keep your guns, keep your freedom." So let me suspend the rules for a moment to offer a few personal notes:

Since my last message, I spent 10 days in Belize researching the offshore financial scene there. (Read about my findings in Vol. I, No. 1 of "Privacy Alert.")

Returning home, I met the home-schoolmom and fellow freedom fighter of my dreams, and married her. I hope we can look forward to Kathleen weighing in from time to time on some topics dear to her heart as well as ours ... including medical privacy, and that special brand of modern storm troopers who brazenly call themselves "Child Welfare."

Then, I wrote and edited (with no small help from a VERY talented and loyal company of associates) Volume 1, Number 1 of "Privacy Alert." (Current subscribers should expect to receive both the newsletter an their subscription premium -- L. Neil Smith's new book "Lever Action" -- within a few days):

Now, I'm writing once more to invite those of you (and your friends -- feel free to forward this invitation to a few SELECT addresses) who haven't yet taken advantage of the charter subscription price of $72 to join the happy few now receiving our premiere issue of "Privacy Alert."

That's right; if your check is postmarked by March 31, we'll still start your subscription with Volume I, No. 1 (unless you specifically ask to start with No. 2.) That way you'll always have the complete set, right from the start.

The first issue? Jam-packed with intriguing, important information affecting your privacy and liberty. starting with a brief "welcome" message from me, which (let me hum the tune here) sounds a little like this:

"It's easy to talk the talk until the IRS, DEA, BATF, or 'Child Protection' shows up at the door (or down at your bank -- and no one there will even bother to give you a call till your checks start bouncing), attaching and levying and seizing paychecks, bank accounts, cars ... even the title to your house ... even your kids.

"If we hope to recruit allies in the fight for freedom, we have to acknowledge that precious few know how to pick up stakes and sever their ties to paycheck and mortgage and mutual fund, that almost anyone will 'cave' when they're made to choose between fighting for what they know is right ... and losing their job, their home, their family.

"But show them how they can gradually, systematically, successfully put themselves in a position to call the tyrant's bluff, to declare that the emperor has no clothes, to stand up, immune from terror, and demand to be shown the actual statute that says we're obliged to apply for that nine-digit Social Slave number and 'request' withholdings and subject ourselves to 'voluntary' payroll and income taxes ... assert our rights to raise and educate our children as we please, knowing we've left the forces of darkness no chink in our armor to exploit ... and now the tyrant's house of cards begins to teeter like an old rotted tree in the cold clean wind of truth.

"The Internal Revenue Service, masters of intimidation, deceit, and coercion? We're not lawyers or accountants; we have no interest in showing you 'loopholes' or ways to game the system. Coming to a new understanding of just where and to whom the various tax laws actually apply -- and where and to whom they don't -- requires study, hard work and due diligence.

"That's work you have to do, yourself. We'll put you in touch with the people and research sites to help you get it done ... and show you step-by-step how to legally protect your assets so you can finally do whatever you come to believe in your heart is right, without fear of intimidation, coercion, or outright government theft.

"Escape requires work, but their entire system is morally bankrupt -- how long will you volunteer to stay inside as the walls begin to molder and collapse? Together we'll blaze an exit trail from their house of horrors, their darkened caverns of servitude, simply by speaking the truth and asking them to prove their lies. Thousands have already begun to show the way.

"But it's not just the taxman. Many other carrion eaters feast on what remains of our freedoms: Ex-employees, ex-spouses (and future ex-spouses), greedy in-laws, professional litigants, predatory lawyers, business competitors, high-pressure salesmen, scam artists, freelance thieves -- these opportunists cn and do loot the bank and brokerage accounts of Americans every day, ruining plenty of lives.

"The good news is that there's also plenty of opportunity still left in this country ... and the world ... to live free and enjoy the fruits of your honest labor. You can arrange your affairs -- with corporations and other business structures, limited partnerships and limited liability companies and asset protection trusts, international business companies and offshore bank and investment accounts, dual citizenship and second passports and international real estate -- in such a way as to own nothing ... so far as the government can learn ... yet control everything.

"The path isn't quick or easy. We won't be simply repackaging and rehashing dated third-hand 'shortcuts' or hare-brained 'magic formulas' from other people's books and newsletters. Instead, we're going to be jumping through all of these hoops ourselves, so that we can describe in detail, from first-hand experience, the ins and outs of what works, and how. That's going to take time, and effort; it's where some of your subscription fees are headed. ..."

And that's just for starters. In the inaugural issue of "Privacy Alert," I also introduce our team of experts and writers, including:

Publisher FRANK DRAKE, raised in Hong Kong, living the offshore life since he was born, and an official PT ("perpetual traveler") for a quarter-century.

DEKE CASTLEMAN, vice-president-in-charge-of-everything of the corporation that publishes the newsletter and an expert in the way business structures protect your privacy and assets.

GORDON PHILLIPS, the leading tax-education specialist for the Constitutional Revival movement who, 10 years ago, protected his assets, started educating himself about the truth of the tax Law, then rescinded his Social Security number, stopped paying taxes, and continued his life. (Gordon is the author of the book "Losing Your Illusions.")

IAN ANDERSON, one of the world's greatest professional high-stakes blackjack players, who moves large sums of money around the world by using casinos as banks and banks as casinos.

CLAIRE WOLFE, the author of "101 Things to Do Till the Revolution," who has agreed to write occasionally on privacy, living free, and ways to annoy, avoid, or monkeywrench arrogant statists everywhere.

And many more!

Also in Issue 1 is our epic piece on Belize, reporting how the Central American backwater (yes, the reef is very nice) looks better on paper -- in the recent spate of offshore how-to books and newsletters -- than in person.

In addition, Sam Cyber, one of our mystery guests, weighs in with an eye-opening article titled, "Your Computer is Your Enemy," in which he (or is it she?) offers numerous suggestions on personal computer security, privacy, and operational "good housekeeping."

We also cover the Bush Administration's softening stance on offshore tax havens; California banks handing over "confidential" customer records to the government to comply with a new law designed to nail "deadbeat dads"; an experiment using facial recognition software conducted at this year's Super Bowl; and the explosion of gun crimes in England and Australia since draconian victim-disarmament laws were implemented (not that my regular readers will be surprised) -- among other items of interest.

Did I mention the first issue comes with an eight-page supplement on Cliff Gardner of Ruby Valley, Nevada -- a rancher who was in the midst of being forced off his land by the feds, but who demanded and got his day in court ... and prevailed? Don't miss this one.

The basic subscription fee for Privacy Alert is $96, with an introductory rate of $72 per year. You can e-mail your credit card number to privacyalert@thespiritof76.com or send a check to to Privacy Alert, 1475 Terminal Way Suite E, Reno, NV 89502.

If you just want to see the first issue, send a buck to the above address.

And remember: Anyone who subscribed to the old Financial Privacy Report between October 2000 and February 2001, who sends us any proof of purchase, receives the first nine issues of Privacy Alert absolutely free, with no obligation.

All one-year subscribers receive, as a bonus, the first non-fiction book written by L. Neil Smith, Libertarian science-fiction novelist extraordinaire. "Lever Action -- Essays on Freedom" is a brand new, monumental 472-page tome (retail price $21.95) containing Neil's inimitable essays, speeches, and patented rants on Libertarian philosophy and politics, Republicrat politics, the Second Amendment, and, of course, science fiction and the media. (Though personally, I think Neil's "Essay on Breakfast" alone is worth the regular purchase price.)

So there you have it. Our inaugural issue is available, and it's just the first of many hard-hitting, practical, upcoming newsletters on keeping your gold, your guns, and your freedom -- keeping what you honestly earn, sticking their hollow threats back in the tyrants' faces, helping spread the truth that will set us free ... and having a great, exhilarating time doing it.

Join us today!

Thanks,

Vin
