re:craigs letter we cant beatem with guns when i was in grade school i was proud that americans were going to save the world and kick the evil commies out of vietnam. i also liked our cool high tech military. we had the most high tech weapons in the world and we were using them to fight the vc (viet cong) who often fought with old world war ii or i weapons sometimes even crossbows.

by high school that all changed. i was ashamed that our powerfull country was invading that 3rd world country killing innoncent women and children along with the vc soldiers who's only crime was they wanted the invading americans out of their country.

back then our world class military force could kick the krap out of the vc any time we chose to fight a battle.

but hey the vc knew that too. so they only chose to fight when they wanted to. terrorist bombings worked well for the vc. same for ambushes along a road in the jungle. or set some claymore mines along the highway when you knew some americans would be using it soon.

one of the most happy days in my life was when the president said we won the war in viet nam and the americans were going home (at least thats what the lying bastard said).

but even though we could kick the viet cong asses in a real ground war we could not beat them in a guerrillo war because they only pick the times when they can win to fight.

craig said something like that a bunch of armed libertarians could not beat the us government. and i agree with him.

but if the american government flushed the constition down the tolit (which i think it pretty much has) a bunch of freedom loving patriots would not fight the government on its own terms they would get their asses kicked.

they would fight a guerrillo war against the government much like the viet cong did in vietnam, or like the people afganastan did against the soviet union.

of course these freedom fighters would not fight a fair war where the government could win. it would be like the viet cong did, blow up airport fuel depots, power plants or key parts of power plants, power transmission lines, oil and gasoline transmission lines, natural gas transmission lines, water plants, rail road bridges, police stations, key freeway bridges. timothy mcvey proved it doesnt take a lot of resources to do a hell of a lot of damage to the government. timothy mcvey was unlucky in that he got caught by accident. if a 100 freedom fighters did what mcvey did most of them probably wouldnt get caught, and it could cause huge amounts of damage to key government centers.

i cant remember if it was in oregon or washington but some tree huggers blew up some ungaurded power transmission lines. they didnt get caught. nor was what they did that hard to do. and its not hard to imagine that if worst came to worst you couldnt get a 100 freedom fighters to do the same thing.

and a while back (95/96/97) i remember some crazies derailed that train out in the desert somewhere between phoenix and los angeles. while the fbi assured the public the nuts would be quickly caught nobody has been caught. think of a 100 freedom fighters doing this on a regular basis.

while the unibomber was an insane nut mailing his bombs all the country, it does show that despite the fbi and other agencys spending millions trying to catch him they didnt succed for at least 10/15 years and when they did catch him it was more or less by accident because his brother turned him in as a result of his stupid unibomber manifesto.

while the unibomber was a rank amature and used only low explosives, your real middle eastern terrorists use high explosives which do much more damage. think of how much damage a 100 sane freedom fighters could do mailing packages to selected targets.

assinating people with sniper rifles seems to be something that can often be done succesfully. neither lee harvey oswald who is alleged to kill kennedy was caught right a way, nor was the guy who assinated martin luther king. and of course the viet cong used snipers agains us in vietnam.

while assinations using hand guns are usually arrested on the spot. the people who gunned down bobby kennedy, regan, and mary rose wilcox all got arrested while performing the crime.

a telephone central office is fairly easy to take out. cutting all the incomming and out going lines at the central office is fairly easy task. but it would be quicker to use a thermite fire bomb to just melt the copper wires. (thermite is made by brown cement dye (iron oxide) and powdered alumnim which is used to bronze baby shoes. on your next trip to home depot pick up your thermite supplys.

but it you want to disrupt communications over a wider area it would be easier to shut down a microwave repeater sitting ungaurded on remote mountain tops all over the state. even microwave repeaters in the city are open. a good number of hikers everyday climb past the microwave repeater on shaw butte at 19th avenue and cactus its gaurded only by a chain link fence.

and of course knocking out cell phone towers is a piece of cake. ungaurded and unstaffed and with all the electronics at ground level its a piece of cake for a single freedom fighter to break into the room with all the equipment that controls a cell phone cite and destroy it.

sure a bunch of freedom fighters cant take on a evil corrupt government face to face, but a guerilla war that does a lot of damage can be done fairly easily by creativelly thinking people.

and of course if these freedom fighters still have guns it makes carrying on theat guerilla war much easier for performing assinations, ambushes, and the few times you chose to confront the government soldiers or when they make a mistake and have to confront unexpected armed government goons.
