Hey Guys;
It looks like all the meetings they asked me to attend to explain our
philosophies paid off. The
backgrounds are primarily Republican, Independent and Constitutionalist [not
surprisingly, there are already quite a few Libertarians in the group]so
comon' guys (and gals) go easy on em'.
Instead of demanding that they be fully steeped in the whole philosophy
before the 'gate keeper's of Libertarianism' attack, try to cogently,
patiently walking them through the tough questions--don't try to jam it all
down their throats on the first day.
In order to grow this party with real people who may not know all the
details of how the philosophy applies, we have to become encouraging
leaders. It's time to change hats and let it grow.
Many of the former Republicans still do not have a clear understanding, in
regards to the 'War on Drugs', but they are willing to listen and learn. I
can appreciate their hesitation, but this particular group has special
understanding of the subtleties in mass propaganda.
They are taking me at
my word when I say we want all people to be free to choose for themselves,
and be responsible for their actions. They have also been reassured that
we have the most reasonable solution to ending the violence associated with
illegal drug distribution, and that we neither encourage nor discourage drug
use.
They asked me to have Peter accept the endorsement when we officially
announce it here in Arizona on Access TV, 8pm in Tucson.
This may well be the beginning of the, "Libertarian Tide", if all of their
memberships re-register as Libertarians (and families), we may well be the
2nd Largest party in the country! We might just could all get to actually
get to live in a Free country in our lifetimes!
Please be easy, instruct, don't insult.
