A. What is the one main idea from this chapter?

The main idea of this chapter is values; the importance of values, Jesus' values, the values Jesus gave to us. The values Jesus gave to us are also known as the beatitudes they are similar to the ten commandments that Moses was given. The situation is also similar in couple of ways. Both went up to a mountaintop to deliver the law to the people waiting at the bottom. Both were on a mission to save Gods people and both laws were not disciplinary but they were ways to live. The only difference between the two laws is that Moses was given more realistic minimal laws and Jesus Gave laws meant for perfect world that we can only try to follow.

B. Two major ideas of this chapter

One major idea i would like to remember is that without inspiration the bible would seem much different that what it is. With out the guidance of the Holy Spirit the evangelist might glorify the apostles or change the characters and setting to fit their audience even. For all we know there may not have been a single gospel if it wasn't for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what let Jesus use his powers to heal so many people and perform so many miracles. The Holy Spirit was a main factor of salvation history and still is today.

The next point I would like to remember is how illogical our religion really is. One thing I can't seem to grasp is that Jesus was 100% human and 100% divine , that 200% if you were wondering I don't think you can be 200% of anything i cant fathom a person who would be 200% human. The Bible can also seem a little tough to believe but at least the authors have an excuse, they heard from a friend of a friend of friend who knows a guy who know someone who was there. The strangest thing though is that people look for things like Noah's Ark and evidence that the Jews walked through the Sea of Reeds. One man even said he found the bones of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Mary Magdalene, and Mary and Jesus' son in one tomb.

C. i found this image at http://orthoticcontessa.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/09/garden_of_eden_tomdubois_1.jpg

I chose this image because I think this was the kind of world Jesus was thinking of when he gave the beatitudes, it is the garden of Eden, an ideal world

D. Ask a question about the chapter

In the gospel of Matthew does Jesus ever give the apostles power to heal people?
