Jesus Christ Superstar: God or Man?

Upon watching the movie Jesus Christ Superstar I have come to the conclusion that Jesus is portrayed as more man than divine. There is much evidence to not only support this but contradict it.
To begin, Mary Magdalene refers to him as a man when seeing an over emotional song about feelings. Maybe this is to show that she was not sure if he was the son of God or not, maybe its the directors opinion of Jesus. Another factor in this low Christology is the fact that for much of the movie he is confused or overwhelmed with duty to the people. For example, when the poor and crippled come to him for help he becomes scared in a way and frantically tries to push his way through the crowd. Before his death he is also question "The Lord"(not the Father) on why he must die, supposing that he was divine he would have been able to understand Gods plan and while reluctantly he would accept it. Another excellent piece of evidence is when Jesus and his disciples come to the temple and find it corrupt with money, like a market of sin. When he sees this he become outraged and runs through the chaotic market like a mad man pushing over tables and stands. In the bible I'm pretty sure he used the power of God to turn the tables. In the end this could easily be excused through a small budget for special effects or once again the directors opinionated portrayal of Jesus.
While there are many example of lows christology there are a few example of high christology for example, during the last supper he knows that Judas is the one to betray in the near future. In the very end when he is on the cross he finally calls God Father, not mention in the last seen of the movie the cross is empty. When Judas his dancing gals do their Jesus Christ Super Star Show Jesus robes have turned to pure white and no one besides Judas, Jesus, and performing angels are in the ruins Jesus was tried in.
In the end I think there are many more example of low Christology than there are example of high Christology. If you ask me this is not Jesus i like to imagine.

List three major beliefs you see clearly in this movie a. Don't command God to perform miracles. b. Love your neighbor c. Don't aniticipate: Participate

A. Throughout the movie people are commanding Jesus to show them a sign or perform a miracle to heal them. Jesus seems annoyed or inept whenever they ask him this. This shows that God does not perform miracles for our own entertainment.

B. When the zealots ask Jesus to put a little pinch of hate into his preaching he says that we should not hate the Romans but love then like our neighbors. The zealots seem extremely confused Simons facial exrpession is almost funny in this scene.

C.When Jesus and the disciples are partying in the hole the entering time the disciples are always asking Jesus "Whats the buzz tell me whats a-happening" and Jesus tells them they'll find out soon like there little kids with the never ending question of 'and what next?' I think they are trying to tell us we can't always be in control. 1
