The Holy Grail
From the Grail flows all goodness. From the Grail flows all peace. From the Grail flows all healing. Blesse'd is this great Feast! Blesse'd are all called to this great Feast! ~ from a praise chorus, copyright Jon Ryner ~
The seventh stream is the Holy Grail. It is interesting that some groups that claim provenance in the mysteries of the Grail do not seem to have an idea of what it is, nor are they actively engaged in research in this area. It is our belief that the Grail is important, and that it is extremely important to rectify this deficiency.
Now for a few sure-too-be-controversial thoughts on Grailology:
1) The Grail itself is not the crucial issue. Let it be noted that the Fisher King, AKA the Wounded King, etc., already has possession of the Grail and feeds from it regularly. It is what perhaps sustains his life, yet it does not heal his wound. He himself cannot heal his wound. Only the Innocent Fool can do that, and only when he has been duly and truly prepared.
2) The Grail does not bring healing to the Land, either. So much for its being the source of abundant physical blessings!
3) The Grail does not always seem to be a blessing to those who behold it, and the pure knight Galahad dies after its vision, thus unable to continue to help, lead or teach the world. Is this another version of "the tongue that cannot lie"?
4) According to several accounts, the King is wounded by the Spear after he felt physical lust. He is likewise healed by the same Spear in these accounts. Jessie Weston, however, suggested that the original healing came not from such a base tool, but from a magic herb, which "belonged to the Grail". She implored any readers of her From Ritual to Romance to contact her if they knew which herb this was, as she had forgotten where she read of it. Does anyone know? If so, please e-mail us!
5) Weston aside, all of the above may well be connected with a "hidden Church of the Holy Grail", which celebrated the Mass with an alternate, secret Canon. Perhaps this Mass was celebrated in the crypt at Amiens Cathedral, long after the exoteric Christians were no longer persecuted. The "presiding priest" shown in the mosaic (now sadly butchered by the blasphemous heretics) being Gildas, perhaps the Celtic Church was involved, or the Hidden Church was comprised of members of the Celtic Church (which is more likely). Profound Mysteries here, indeed, boys and girls! These and many more we shall continue to examine on this humbly crafted little site. ...
Benediccioun Greal!
