Rotorcraft Scholarships for Women

Whirly-Girls Helicopter Flight Training Scholarship
Funded by the Whirly-Girls Men's & Ladies' Auxiliary. The year 2003 award will be $4,500 to assist a certificated woman pilot in earning her add-on helicopter rating. Applications are evaluated for evidence of financial need and intent to work in the helicopter industry.

International Whirly-Girls Flight Training Scholarship
This $4,500 scholarship will be awarded to a non-USA-citizen female pilot who has a helicopter rating and wishes to obtain an add-on helicopter rating OR to a foreign Whirly-Girl in good standing who wishes to UPGRADE present ratings.

Bell Helicopter Scholarship
Bell Helicopter Textron, will give a Whirly-Girl in good standing the opportunity to attend Bell 206 Turbine Transition course at the Bell Customer Training Academy in Fort Worth, Tx. The award includes ground and some flight training.

American Eurocopter Flight Training Scholarship
American Eurocopter, will give a Whirly-Girl in good standing the opportunity to attend an AS350 Transition course at the American Eurocopter Factory School in Grand Prairie, Tx

Robinson Helicopter R22/R44Safety Course Scholarship
Robinson Helicopter Company, will give 2 Whirly-Girls in good standing the opportunity to attend the R22/R44 Safety Course conducted by RHC. It is a 3 1/2 day course which includes 2 1/2 days of classroom instruction and 1 day devoted to maintenance, pre-flight inspections, and flying with an experienced RHC pilot. While geared toward flight instructors, the course is open to any rated helicopter pilot who has at least 3 hours in the R22 or R44 helicopter.

Flight Safety International Instrument Refresher Course Scholarship
Sponsored by FSI-Texas, will be awarded to a Whirly-Girl in good standing, who possesses an instrument rating. The course will consist of 12 hours of academic training, 6 hours of simulator instruction and will be conducted at the Flight Safety Learning Center in Hurst, Tx.

Doris Mullen Scholarship
Funded by the The Whirly-Girls, Inc, this scholarship will provide $4,500 to a Whirly-Girl in good standing toward an advanced helicopter rating (typically toward instrument, instructor, ATP, or Turbine Transition training). This will offer her the opportunity to train for advanced helicopter flight training that will enhance her professionalism, safety, and marketability in the helicopter market or industry. This scholarship is in memory of Doris Mullen (WG #84), who lost her life in a fixed wing aircraft accident in 1968.
