Interview 3
February 2001

On a whole, how do you feel about how you did in gymnastics in the year 2000? Did you achieve all of the goals that you set out at the start of the year?
Yes. I wanted to win nationals and I did, um I didn't know about many of the overseas comps so I guess I just wanted to be on as many teams as possible.

What do you consider your biggest achievement in 2000?
Probably the Millennium Commonwealth Youth Games. [I came] 3rd AA, and 1st team. It was fantastic!

You move up to the senior division in 2001, how do you feel about that?
It's daunting. In some ways some of the pressure has dropped off but now everything is going to be tougher (ie. training camps, comps).

How well do you think you will be able to mix it with the established Australian seniors next year, given their successes in recent years?
I really don't know? I haven't competed for a while and I don't know what the level of competition will be. I just hope to do my best and place in the top 10 [at Nationals].

What are you major goals and aims for 2001?
First comp is East Asia Games and I hope to make that team, then to rank as well as I can at Nationals, and to be a part of the World Championship team.

Have you recently upgraded any of your skills and/or routines for 2000?
I don't know at the moment whether I will compete these skills or not at nationals. Floor: whip to double Arabian, double layout. Vault: double twisting Yurchenko. Beam: Korbut full twist, straddle full turn, tuck full turn, pike front sault mount, change side (to straddle). Bars: double layout full twist dismount, clear circle half and full.

Which competitions do you have scheduled for 2001 so far?
Victorian Championships, Trials for East Asia Games and Nationals.

Did you get to go to the Olympic Games in Sydney? If so, what did you see, and how did you enjoy it?
Most definitely. I saw the team finals in gymnastics (WAG). I had tickets to see the gala performance, which was unreal! I also was able to see Cathy Freeman's 400m final win, along with Tatiana Grigorieva. 2nd pole vault which was amazing (hard to explain).

Have you been doing anything else exciting in your life lately?
We, the Vic chicks :), have moved into our new gym in Prahran, Victoria. It is really big and we share it with the Vic mens' program, Vic rhythmic program and Nika (a circus school). All in a double story building, near Chapel Street :)! I've also moved schools with a lot of other 'gymies' so I've been back to Mentone quite a lot lately to see all of my fabulous friends.

What do you hope the year of 2001 holds for you?
Some fun. I want to enjoy it. Making the teams for comps.

Can I just say a big thanks to everyone who supports me in every way.
You all know who you are :)
