How
do you feel about how you did in the year 2000?
I was pretty disappointed with the Nationals, because I was training
much better beforehand and I could have made the Squad even if
I had had one less fall - out of 4 falls - a disastrous comp!!
But I was happy with my results at the Bluewater in Canada, and
the experience that I had over there.
Did
you achieve all of the goals that you set out at the start of
the year?
My main goal was to make the Olympic squad and to get some more
competition experience at the trials and overseas, so no I didn't.
What
do you consider your biggest achievement this year, so far?
My pb in Sarnia at the Bluewater Invitational - AA score of 34.90,
and 9.025 on floor. Also my pb on vault at National Clubs of 8.90
(start value - 9.3) and my pb beam score of (9.15).
Many
feel that you should have been on the Australian National Team
in 2000, and been allowed to compete at such competitions as the
Australian Olympic Trials. How did you feel about this, and did
it just motivate you to train that much harder?
As I said, I was very disapointed with that outcome, but it made
me realise that nothing in gymnastics gets handed to you on a
silver platter - you have to work for everything, and sometimes
you only get one chance.
How
do you feel going into 2001?
It's going to be interesting to see how the new code works out,
and hopefully I can put in a better comp at this years Nationals.
I'd also love to get a new floor routine and compete some new
and different skills.
What
are your major goals and aims for next year?
Definitely the top ten at Nationals, but I haven't seen the competition
calendar yet.
Have
you recently upgraded any of your skills and/or routines, or are
you working on anything new?
I'm working on a few new things but mostly just seeing which skills
will work for me from the new code.
Do
you have any competitions planned for 2001 so far?
Nationals!!
Did
you get to go to the Olympic Games in Sydney? If so, what did
you see, and how did you enjoy it?
Yep, I went to see the team qualifiers and I got to see the session
with AUS, USA, CHN, FRA, ITA and also the night with the Spanish
team and individuals. The atmosphere was great and we had really
good seats so I had heaps of fun and took loads of pics!
Have
you been doing anything else exciting in your life lately?
No time! Exams are coming up.....
What
do you hope the year of 2001 holds for you?
Hopefully more competition experience, no injuries, and I want
to enjoy my gymnastics.
