Interview 1
November 2002

When and how did you get into gymnastics?

In 1994 I went on a tour of the AIS and wanted to do it since.

You have moved into the senior ranks this year, after being a very successful gymnast in the junior division. How has your time in senior been for you so far?

Not too bad, I just want my start values up.

How have you found the new Code of Points?

I'm fine with them, yeh its hard and all but that's the way it is.

You recently finished second at the Australian World Trials, but due to the selection policy of earning at least 9.4 on an apparatus, you did not qualify for the team. How did you feel to do so well and only just miss out?

I had a feeling that I wasn't going to qualify, so I just did the best I could.

What do you consider to be your best achievement in gymnastics so far?

Going to Junior Worlds in Japan [International Japan Juniors, 2001].

What do you hope to achieve in your gymnastics career?

Competing at the 2004 Olympics.

Are you working on any new skills/routines at the moment?

A few new beam jumps, and 1 ½ to Jaeger.

What do you have planned for the coming months, both in and out of gymnastics?

I have a trial for Taipei in Canberra on the 13th December, and out of gym I'm getting 2 ½ days off for Christmas so my relies are coming down [to Canberra].

Who and what do you consider as your main motivation for continuing the hard training?

I know that the training is not easy but enjoy a challenge.

What do you like to do when you are not doing gymnastics?

Listen to music. I love music, its the bomb, haha.

Who do you admire, both in and out of gymnastics?

My Brother, I love you James.

What are your major goals and aims for 2003?
Worlds and perfecting my routines.
