Epilogue "Who the heck could be at my door at 8am on a Saturday morning?" Dee muttered as she made her way down the stairs. "My first Saturday off in almost a month and I can't sleep in!" She wrapped her robe around her as she opened the door a crack to see a delivery man holding what appeared to be a flower box. "Deirdre Scott?" he said peering through the small slit of an opening in the door. "Yes," Dee answered, opening the door further. "Flowers for you, " he said, handing them to her as she opened the screen door. "Sign here, please." "Thank you!" she said, closing the door and opening the card that was taped to the box. "Hi Deeds……follow these simple directions. #1: Open the box and don't read any further until you do!" Dee laughed. It sounded so typical of him; she could almost hear his voice. She obeyed and opened the box to find two dozen gorgeous long-stemmed red roses. "#2: Smell the roses." Dee lifted them out of the box and took a long, luxurious sniff. Underneath the roses, she found a CD. "Hmmmm, Celebrity, huh?" "#3: Play Cut #5." She went over to her stereo and popped the CD in and queued up to #5. It sounded familiar and she smiled. "Just the two of us…..I sent you flowers on a Saturday and insides a message with your name. See I just love the feeling, knowing I can make you smile and I haven't felt that way about someone in quite a while. Just listen to these words I have to say. Just take a chance..." "#4: Open the envelope inside the box." Dee found the envelope and opened it up to find an airline ticket to Las Vegas for the following weekend. "Oh my God….." Dee didn't know what to think. It was then that she heard her mother's voice as clear as if she were in the same room with her, "One day at a time, Deirdre." Dee was smiling and wiping tears from her eyes when her phone rang. It was Mel. "You'll never guess what I just had delivered to me," she said breathlessly. "Oh, I think I've got a good idea!" THE END Feedback gladly received here! Home |
