Abstract
Moving ahead with time, Malaysia is now ready to accept the challenges posed by the Vision 2020. Early preparation though must be taken to ensure that future generation leaders are well-equipped with the required skills and knowledge. To facilitate learning and to give wider choices for students, e-learning is introduced in Malaysia. It starts with the establishment of Smart Schools for primary and secondary education and Virtual University for tertiary education. This paper attempts to discuss e-learning in the context of three stages of education in Malaysia. As such, data derives from analysis of written texts as well as from surveys and observations done. Early findings show that many things need to be addressed properly in order to ensure the success of e-learning in Malaysia, especially the theoretical and pedagogical implications of e-learning. It is hoped that as the country progresses, e-learning would become an alternative way to gain knowledge and to receive global exposure.
