CHRISTMAS CAROLS
I love to hear them being sung in the busy stores,
I play them whilst doing my daily irksome chores,
I sing along quite merrily and then everything is fine,
But Id sing them all year round if the choice were mine.
The message is so sweet filled with love from above,
Carols of baby Jesus, who came to earth in love,
Some tell of the angels singing on that special night
And how wise men followed the star of light.
Some tell of Mary and how she felt about her child,
And of how Joseph was strong, yet gentle and mild,
How shepherds came to worship in a stable cold,
Maybe bringing a lamb from the shelter of the fold.
Some of the secular songs sing of hearth and home,
Of sleigh rides as across pure white snow you roam,
Some tell of Christmas trees and the Christmas card
And how being away from home is so very hard.
Play them sweetly, play them till your heart sings,
For Christmas is wonderful and always brings
New joys each year and childhood memories in the snow,
But especially of the divine child born to us long ago.
