PAINTINGS OF JESUS
When I look at paintings of Jesus,
        I wonder, in my mind
Is that really what he looks like,
        can I ever really find
One that is like Him in every way,
        a true likeness of Him?
There are many wonderful paintings
        of every shape and size
Many differ with the colour of His hair
and the shade of His eyes,
But all of them somehow paint kindness,
        true tenderness and care,
So I don’t think it matters at all if there
        is true likeness painted there.
Paintings with the children all around
        and some upon His knee,
Another on the ship in a cruel storm, then
stilling the waves of the sea.
One of His hands stretched out to heal
        the sick, lame and blind,
Also when He taught His disciples
        the true way to find
Their way back to heaven, His love
        brightly shining through,
So as long I have a Jesus painting around
I don’t mind who He’s like, do you?
