WARNING SIGNS

Oh dear, this morning I really overslept,
I have to wash and dress, so prayers I’ll miss,
For scripture reading there is no time at all,
No time to give the children and spouse a kiss.

I have worked hard all the week through,
There’s housework and many repairs to complete,
So, if just this week to church I do not go,
The Lord will understand if the saints I don’t meet.

This week something went wrong with the car,
For just this once my tithing I will not pay,
I’ll make it up before the end of the year I know,
There is a bonus coming, I’ll catch up that day.

I was so cold and shivering with chill and cold,
Only tea and coffee were available to me,
Just one cup to warm me through that is all,
The Lord would not want me to freeze, would He!

The wedding of friends from my childhood days,
Bubbling champagne for each and every toast,
Orange juice would do for me I was sure,
But I did not want to upset my friend and host.

Satan is the prompter when these things you hear,
Please don’t listen, or no warning signs ignore,
Listen to the sweeter voice, do the right thing,
Put God first, stay true and Him only adore.
