SOMETIMES I GET TO WONDERING
Sometimes I get to wondering about this world of ours.
All the gifts and bounties, all the trees and flowers,
All the clear lakes and mountains grand and tall.
Am I really worthy of the great beauty of it all?
I look up at the sky with its many moods and shades.
See how the sun filters through the thick forest glades,
How the moon and stars make the night bright and clear.
Am I really worthy when heaven seems so very near?
I see the horses running fast, grace in every stride,
Watch the birds fly, with still wings silently glide.
I see a mothers love as she holds that newborn child.
Am I really worthy? Or am I too reckless and wild?
How can I be deserving of these gifts so freely given?
Show me the way to be worthy, dear God of heaven,
For sometimes I get to wonder about heaven above,
Think of the beauty, think of the glory, think of the love.
So as I get to thinking of the beauty of our land,
Help me stop and be thankful for gifts on every hand,
Never take for granted the blessing that always flow
From thee dear Father, so one day I will know
What its like in heaven, where the angels always sing
And hope to be worthy to meet thee, my heavenly king.
