GRATITUDE
Of all the evils in this world of ours
That upsets our dear God above,
It that of an ungrateful, thankless heart.
For He gives us all so much with love.
The everyday folk like you and me
Do not commit some great big sin
That weigh some others down,
But just as bad, is ingratitude within.
So look around at the things we have
And pray sincerely with a simple heart,
Like a child at a mothers caring knee.
Then the Lord will surely do his part.
He will open our eyes to true beauty
Of a delicate rose in full bloom.
See the grace of a bird in flight
And a sunbeam across the room.
If our health is good and can work
And we have friends that are true
Do we find time in our brief prayer
To remember to thank Him for that too?
When was the last time our gratitude
Filled out hearts to the brim with love,
For the gifts so freely given us
By a kindly Father up above.
Take time in your prayers to give thanks
Not just for big things given us each day.
But for the fluffy clouds that sail along
And a bed to sleep in after we pray.
For the smile you saw on a babies face,
For a rainbow gracing a stormy sky,
The snowdrop peeping in early spring
Where the deep white snow used to lie.
Nothing's too small for our gratitude,
God's not to busy to hear from a child
Who has some thanks to give in grace,
And wants to please this Father so mild.
Yet has the power to heal the sick.
Control a storm tossed sea with a smile,
Can create worlds, and run them all
Yet He wants a thank-you from you and me.
