A TRUE CHRISTIAN

We profess to be Christian, live the golden rule,
Be kind and always thoughtful, call no one fool,
Go the extra mile, have clean wholesome fun,
But can we say “Not my will, but thine be done?”

Do we pray and want our will to rule the day?
Do we stop and have God guide our way?
Are we truly humble, knowing God knows best?
Or is a quick prayer enough and we do the rest?

One day I may manage to say, “Thy will be done”
Trust in His pure love until my race is won,
Face the hardest battles, climb the steepest hill,
If the is what is required by His holy will,

In Gethsemane, he said those words sublime,
He suffered for our every wicked deed or crime,
He did not back away from the Father’s will,
But gave Himself, His great destiny to fulfill.

Follow in His footsteps each and every day,
If we strive real hard he will lead the way,
Back to Father’s kingdom, back to heaven above,
If we say thy will be done, trust in His eternal love.
