PERFECTION
We have been told that we perfect may be,
From all evil this aim will set us all free,
Little by little, struggling, striving day by day,
Following Jesus perfection may come our way.
In Matthew he tells us to be perfect like His Father,
Would He say that, if a lie, why should we bother?
He commands us to be perfect, in other scriptures too,
We can be on a perfect path before our life is through.
Perfect in keeping the commandments, in being kind,
Leaving all evil thoughts and deeds far, far behind,
Train our minds to willingly do His will each day,
With effort slowly sweet perfection may come our way.
We all sin, but repentance is there to wash away sin,
It will turn evil to good and make us pure within.
Satan screams at us, You are too wicked to be pure,
Why bother to try all that good have to daily endure.
Who do we believe? Satan or Jesus our Saviour divine ?
I should never doubt that one day perfection will be mine,
God is perfect we know and His words will forever endure,*
And through Jesus sacrifice our calling and election is sure.
