CONTENTION
Let not the spirit of contention break a tender heart,
Joy cannot stay, it will have to soon sadly depart
From the place where contention reigns supreme,
Then slowly true happiness will only be a dream.

Let sweet peace enter and send contention away,
Do it by the things you do and the words you say,
Pray for strength to help yourself to begin to heal,
And from the thorns of contention comfort then feel.

Be a ray of sunshine in a harsh contentious room,
Send away with love the feeling of hate and gloom,
Try and not let contention come in through your door,
Please leave it on the outside, this I beg and implore.

It stops anyone’s heart from ever really healing,
Hardens the soul until there comes in no good feeling,
It clouds judgement and make right seem all wrong,
No longer in the heart will there be a joyful song.

Next time contention tries to creep very quietly in,
Send it packing quickly for it always stirs up sin,
If at all times there is love and a prayer in your heart,
Then mean old contention cannot do it’s part.
