SONNET 56 SEEK A STAR
Lost in a world of darkness, I am blind,
Eyes open yet not seeing any light,
Visions veiled in mists of dullness like the night,
No hope of comfort to my weary mind,
I see light, fear hides the way to find
The source of peace I seek, I need it bright,
Bright enough to show how to stand and fight,
Please, darkness depart from me and be kind.
Look upward friend and see some shining star,
Cast off the fear that binds you in chains strong.
Drop off self pity, seek a better way
Than grovelling in vales of sin afar,
Look into your soul and see all your wrong,
Forgiveness will bring light as bright as day.
