When we look around us, gaze at the beauty that we see,
It leaves a good impression , I know God loves me,
If we watch things we shouldn’t the impression is strong,
It weakens our determination to do no evil or wrong.
As we study the scriptures, read other good books found,
The impression is wholesome, there is goodness all around.
Yet other books may contain ideas that may pollute the mind,
The impressions are just as strong as good reading that we find.
The sweet tones of music that can sooth a troubled heart,
Or a rousing march, hymn or song that helps us do our part,
Leaves a lasting impression, gives light to a darkened way,
But beware of sounds we hear that may lead us astray.
All things in our lives leaves impression good or bad,
We cannot sift just the good, and happy leave out the sad.
So be aware of the dangers all around as Satan will send
Us bad impressions, hoping we may learn to defend
The things that harm our minds as bad impressions we take in,
Don’t let him seal our thoughts, God will help us fight the sin.
