THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT.
How many gathered that day to hear the Saviour speak?
Were some filled with pride, others humble and meek?
Did they hear the same message from those lips divine?
Even now, are they different in your heart and mine?
Are we the blessed of the Lord by those points set?
Always forgiving others, be willing to ever forget,
Are we meek and humble willing to do our part?
Or do we have within us a proud and stubborn heart?
Are we a thoughtful peacemaker, the one that calms?
The one that turns the other cheek, one that never harms?
Or do we think that is silly, saying, Its right to strike back,
Think of justice and Gods true mercy sometimes lack?
The Saviour is still speaking to us of being pure in heart,
Though no longer on the mount sitting a little apart,
For those who wish to see God, the message is still the same,
And mourn for the wrong we do, if Heaven is our aim.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness.
The promise of being filled with Gods knowledge and goodness.
I can see the love in those deep eyes as he spoke every word,
And the pain in them when so many there never really heard.
Are we the blessed that belong in Gods heaven above?
That Jesus spoke of on the mount, His eyes full of pure love?
Please read those chapters again and again till they fill your soul,
And so know how to be the blessed of the Lord and be truly whole.
