SAFELY ANCHORED

In the tumult of this, our life on the earth,
What anchorage is of the greatest worth?
Where shall true safety in living be found
As we see the evil that is found all around.

Is it our own strength that will carry us through?
Is it clinging together as a family loving and true?
Is it the things we learn and know in our heart?
All these things are good and play a great part.

Safety should be anchored in Christ the chosen one,
Partaking of the sacrament so precious and solemn,
Remembering in reverence His sacrifice divine,
Suffering and dying to save your soul and mine.

So anchor our hearts and lives in Jesus, the Lord,
Anchor our thoughts to His will and saving word,
For without the Saviour, hope we could never own
No peace and love in heaven, no everlasting throne.

Safely place the anchor of life where it belongs,
That anchorage is firm, so sing many songs
Of praise to a Father in heaven who gave His Son,
So those who choose Him, eternal life will have won.
