Do we notice day by day time passes on wings of lightening
When all the world is fair and there is joy all around us.
Yet, when life gives us in cruel measure some irksome thing,
Or sorrow and pain that takes away our simple happiness,
Those same minutes tick like endless bitter hours to endure
Till what seems like eternity has passed. Yet second by second
They are the same time, given equal beat to all to ensure
We will overcome the sad and painful times and live beyond
Those awful hours, and then rejoice with thankful heart
And loud acclaim when health and happiness return again.
We then, can in some small measure do our simple part
To ease the sick, the sorrowful and so shorten their pain
Filled hours. Time ticks on, day by day till our life is done,
Look back and count the swift hours when the battles won
