WEARING MY POPPY

I cannot wear my poppy on my white temple dress,
But while I serve, I’ll remember them, none the less,
For they died to give me freedom, have a better life,
They died in pain and sorrow, died to overcome strife.

I do not think I would be standing within these temple walls,
Or have the freedom to follow the Lord to serve when He calls,
Would there be so many temples scattered far and wide
If those people had not sacrificed all, and for freedom died?

So outside, I’ll wear my poppy on my coat to say
Thank you to the fallen in my own special way.
For good folks died on both sides to beat tyranny,
And give all everywhere the blessing to be free.
