GETTING TO KNOW YOU
When someone asks me to write a poem, a great honour indeed,
To help them out with verse or prose and so meet their need,
It seems that I get to know them, how they think, how they feel,
If in some deep sorrow, I hope my few lines may help to heal.

It feels as though their thoughts come floating over the miles,
I can see the brightness in their eyes and their happy smiles.
I feel as though they are kindred spirits, friends for evermore,
I am sure I would know them if they came to my front door.

Please keep asking me, friends that I do not yet really know,
For you help my poetry keep up a steady ongoing smooth flow.
Helping each other along life’s way that’s what friend do,
So please let me know if I can write a poem, just for you.
